Video Blog! :)

The Big Idea:  My topic is Breast Cancer Awareness and order of operations. The point of the game is too get the order of operations problems correct and to raise money for a cure for breast cancer. The most important concept of my game is to learn how to do order of operation problems. Also to learn about breast cancer and how to give support to someone with cancer.

Making decisions as a Team: “Imagining Your Game” helped me narrow down my ideas. I am the only member of my team.”Imagining Your Game” organized my ideas in a way. It showed the basic idea of my game, on one scene. My “Imagining Your Game” showed the idea of it, and it told about my over all game.

Roles and Responsibilities: I am the only member in my team. I take on all of the roles, and have to do everything. Therefore, I don’t have any teamwork, since I am the only one.

Research: I had to do a lot of research for “Choosing a Topic”. My research helped me learn a lot more about my topic/idea. I had to research a lot of stuff. I learned how people can support ones with cancer and to keep a good attitude if u have cancer. My research helped me A LOT!

The User Experience: In the game, the player will have to answer an order of operations problem correct, to get money added to your account for a cure. Yes, it has changed since I first started planning my game. The reason is I had to look at it more realistically. I also had to organize and narrow down my thoughts.

Mastering Flash: The flash resources that have been most helpful to me is being able to “undo” what I had done last because I kept messing up. Putting in the codes has been a learning experience for me because it shows me a lot and I learn a lot from it! I located some of these resources in the side bar, or by pressing F9 after you click on the actions layer.

Overcoming Challenges: The curriculum topic that has been most difficult for me is doing the coding on flash. I found it difficult because you have to figure out what code to put in to make it do what you need it too. I overcame this by just spending a lot of time on working hard and just figuring  it out!

Drawing a Scene!

My Drawing a Scene shows my first scene of the game and it had to have something moving across the screen. I chose a heart to be moving across my screen. I am putting a lot of hearts throughout the scenes in my game because it shows how passionate about my topic I am. Cancer is a very serious issue, no matter what type of cancer it is. While I was in the process of making my Drawing a Scene, it was pretty easy because I already knew the code to make things move across the screen. So, this assignment wasn't that challenging for me :)

Adding a Scene Link!

My Adding a Scene shows the first scene of my game, and when you push the button "Learn More About Breast Cancer", it links you too the next scene. That scene then tells you a lot of information about Breast Cancer. Such as how many people get it a year, and how many people die of this cancer. It took me some time to get my adding a scene to work because it was the first time I had ever linked a scene to the next one. I had to watch a tutorial on it and then get some help from my teacher, but I finally got it working!

Thanksgiving Traditions!

Over break, on Thanksgiving I had a good time. On Thanksgiving day, we don't really have any set traditions. All of my family comes together at my Grandma's house. Everyone would fix something to eat and we would have a lot there for us. After we eat, we just watch movies and spend time together. That night, my mom and I went to Waynesborro, VA. That is where my cousin lives and there is a lot of places to shop there. After we got there, we waited until eleven o'clock and then left to go shopping for black friday. We shopped ALL night until about twelve o'clock the next day! It was very tiring but it was a lot of fun! Over all, I had a really good break!

Paper Prototyping! :)

To me, paper prototyping is very helpful. It helps organize what your going to do in your game. It tells what happens first, second, ect... I think it is very useful. Also it will help a lot when we make our video. It will keep us from getting confused about what goes next. I think it will help my game be more organized also. It helps me organize my thoughts. Over all I think
paper prototyping is a big help!

IMAGINING YOUR GAME! :)

The thing I am most excited about for when I start making my game is, the feeling of accomplishment when I finish something. I like when you work on something for a while, and work very hard. Then when you finish it you get the best feeling, I love that feeling, that I finally accomplished what I needed too. I feel like I'm ready to start my next task. I'm very excited to start working on my game and getting that feeling, the feeling of accomplishment!

My Mini Game! :)

Below is the ending product of my mini game! During the process of making this, it was difficult at times.  First we added the carrot, then we made it move. Next we added the rabbit, then the wolf. We made some of them do a hit test and so on. The last thing we did we had to do it on our own. We could add anything we wanted, but we had to add something. I decided I would add a pizza. Everytime the bunny hits the carrot it gets five points deducted and is put back in its original position. Sometimes when something wouldn't go right we would have to figure out what was wrong with our code. It was very hard to figure out what to change. The last part, when I added the pizza and made it do a hit test. We had to base it off our other codes and it was a little bit hard to figure out. I think it was fun making this mini game. I can't wait to start on my real game!!

MY FIRST SCENE!

Above is the first scene of my game. In the making we had to learn how to put text in, how to change the color, how to draw it, change the font, and a lot more. This was my first experience working with Flash. I think it was a lot of fun and I am excited to work with it more. At first it looks very complicated but once you learn the codes and get the hang of it it will be a lot of fun. My scene gives a fact about Breast Cancer, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon, and a saying on it. I look forward in working with Flash in Globaloria much more, and I am excited for the rest of the year. I can't wait to learn new things, and more about Flash.

My Social Issue

My Social Issue is Breast Cancer Awareness. I am passionate about it because my Grandmother has six sisters, including her and they have all had it except for two of them. She has not, and hopefully never will. As I make this game I will be learning more about it and as others play it they will be learning more about it too.

Tells about National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Tells information, how to get involved and more!
A lot of information about Breast Cancer

I think these websites will help me during my game because one shows News Paper Articles abpoy Breast Cancer Awareness, one is about National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the other two tell a lot of information on this topic.

Internet Safety

My topic for internet safety is on putting too much information on the internet. If you do that anyone can access it. Strangers, kidnappers, child milesters...anyone could find you if you put too much information online. This is a very serious issue a lot of bad things can and have happened from doing this. You should keep your personal information to yourself. Like it says in the video putting too much personal information online is like yelling it out in a crowd of strangers.

My Math Concept and Social Issue

For my math concept I would like to do Order of Operations. I want to do Order of Operations because you can always solve the problem out. I don't usually have any trouble when I'm using it. You can use Order of Operations for a lot of different problems. Now, for my social issue I chose Breast Cancer Awarness. My grandmother has six sisters, including her and four out of six of them has had breast cancer. She hasn't had it and hopefully never will. All of them have survived it. That is why I'm passionate about this social issue. In my game I want the players to try and find a cure for Breast Cancer by using Order of Operations.
