Video Blog! :)

The Big Idea:  My topic is Breast Cancer Awareness and order of operations. The point of the game is too get the order of operations problems correct and to raise money for a cure for breast cancer. The most important concept of my game is to learn how to do order of operation problems. Also to learn about breast cancer and how to give support to someone with cancer.

Making decisions as a Team: “Imagining Your Game” helped me narrow down my ideas. I am the only member of my team.”Imagining Your Game” organized my ideas in a way. It showed the basic idea of my game, on one scene. My “Imagining Your Game” showed the idea of it, and it told about my over all game.

Roles and Responsibilities: I am the only member in my team. I take on all of the roles, and have to do everything. Therefore, I don’t have any teamwork, since I am the only one.

Research: I had to do a lot of research for “Choosing a Topic”. My research helped me learn a lot more about my topic/idea. I had to research a lot of stuff. I learned how people can support ones with cancer and to keep a good attitude if u have cancer. My research helped me A LOT!

The User Experience: In the game, the player will have to answer an order of operations problem correct, to get money added to your account for a cure. Yes, it has changed since I first started planning my game. The reason is I had to look at it more realistically. I also had to organize and narrow down my thoughts.

Mastering Flash: The flash resources that have been most helpful to me is being able to “undo” what I had done last because I kept messing up. Putting in the codes has been a learning experience for me because it shows me a lot and I learn a lot from it! I located some of these resources in the side bar, or by pressing F9 after you click on the actions layer.

Overcoming Challenges: The curriculum topic that has been most difficult for me is doing the coding on flash. I found it difficult because you have to figure out what code to put in to make it do what you need it too. I overcame this by just spending a lot of time on working hard and just figuring  it out!

Drawing a Scene!

My Drawing a Scene shows my first scene of the game and it had to have something moving across the screen. I chose a heart to be moving across my screen. I am putting a lot of hearts throughout the scenes in my game because it shows how passionate about my topic I am. Cancer is a very serious issue, no matter what type of cancer it is. While I was in the process of making my Drawing a Scene, it was pretty easy because I already knew the code to make things move across the screen. So, this assignment wasn't that challenging for me :)

Adding a Scene Link!

My Adding a Scene shows the first scene of my game, and when you push the button "Learn More About Breast Cancer", it links you too the next scene. That scene then tells you a lot of information about Breast Cancer. Such as how many people get it a year, and how many people die of this cancer. It took me some time to get my adding a scene to work because it was the first time I had ever linked a scene to the next one. I had to watch a tutorial on it and then get some help from my teacher, but I finally got it working!

Thanksgiving Traditions!

Over break, on Thanksgiving I had a good time. On Thanksgiving day, we don't really have any set traditions. All of my family comes together at my Grandma's house. Everyone would fix something to eat and we would have a lot there for us. After we eat, we just watch movies and spend time together. That night, my mom and I went to Waynesborro, VA. That is where my cousin lives and there is a lot of places to shop there. After we got there, we waited until eleven o'clock and then left to go shopping for black friday. We shopped ALL night until about twelve o'clock the next day! It was very tiring but it was a lot of fun! Over all, I had a really good break!
